Sitting at the computer this holiday…don’t know what prompted me to type in Meadowland, but, what pleasant surprise!! I grew up in Naperville….attented most every event 1961 through 1964. I call Ventura CA home now. (will leave Tucson soon I hope)
I have attented Monterey Historics 2001 through 2007. While waking into the Laguna Seca Paddock, out of the corner of my eye, Scarab with the number 5, owned now by Miles Collier of Florida…. Memories of Meadowdale…Augie Papbst…and the Scarab history at that track, instantly returned in unstopable detail…I met Jim Jefferies…a past Scarab driver…got to sit in the car with photographs.
Laguna Seca is a Monterey County park that accommodates the track sponsored by Mazda. Laguna sits right in the middle of some of the richest digs anywhere…Infineon/Sears Point is 2hrs north. Maybe you could visit Laguna and see what kind of an arangement Mazda and Monterey County have and do some kind of repeat arangement.
Well, if I make it through this economic mess, I now have a place I have to return to for a fond visit.
